Building Confidence and Creativity Through Drama, Music, and Imaginative Play
Wednesdays are extra special at Walmgate Day Nursery thanks to our exciting partnership with Let’s Act Drama School. Together, we bring the magic of theatre to life through our Mini Musical Theatre club – a weekly session designed to nurture confidence, communication, creativity, and self-expression in our preschoolers.
These interactive, imaginative classes are carefully planned to support key areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), making them much more than just fun and games. Through drama, music, and storytelling, children develop essential skills for learning and life, all while having a brilliant time with their friends.
What Happens in a Mini Musical Theatre Session?
Each week, the children take part in a 1-hour session (split into two smaller 30-minute groups) led by the talented team from Let’s Act Drama School. The sessions are structured to capture children’s imaginations while gently building key developmental skills.
✨ Magical Adventure
We start with a brand-new adventure every week! Children step into a story world where they meet a “character of the week” and work together to solve a problem. Using song, movement, and performance skills, and with the help of our colourful rainbow parachute, we journey through imaginative landscapes and bring stories to life.
These adventures are inspired by EYFS themes and designed to boost children’s vocabulary, articulation, problem-solving, and teamwork.
🎭 Show Work
Next, we focus on building towards a performance. This part of the session includes singing, poetry, character creation, and drama games that develop communication, memory, and confidence. Over the course of the term, the children contribute to creating a short show, and at the end, families are invited to an informal, relaxed performance to celebrate their achievements.
