Extended Funded Childcare Hours from September – Reserve Your Space Now
From September 2025, the government is expanding funded childcare, and we are now delighted to open up spaces to new families at Walmgate Day Nursery!
Whether your little one is a baby, toddler or pre-schooler, this is your chance to boost their nursery time using new or increased government-funded hours.
Spaces are limited, so if you’re thinking of joining us, now is the perfect time to secure your child’s place. Fill in the request form now.

🧒 Who Gets What?
The government has been rolling out two types of funded childcare places for families in England, covering children from 9 months right up to school age:
Universal Entitlement: 15 Hours (All Families, Ages 3–4)
- All children aged 3 and 4 are entitled to 15 hours per week of free childcare or early education.
- This starts from the term after your child turns 3 – either 1 January, 1 April or 1 September.
- You can use the hours over 38 weeks per year (term-time), or choose to stretch them across the full year with fewer hours per week.
- No application or income check is required – every family qualifies.
Extended Entitlement: Up to 30 Hours (Working Families, Ages 9 Months to 4 Years)
- Working parents may be eligible for up to 30 hours per week of funded childcare, depending on their child’s age.
- This has been introduced in phases:
- From April 2024: 15 hours per week for eligible working parents of 2-year-olds.
- From September 2024: 15 hours per week for eligible working parents of children aged 9 months to 2 years.
- From September 2025: Up to 30 hours per week for eligible working parents of children aged 9 months to school age.
- To qualify, each parent (or the sole parent in a single-parent household) must:
- Earn the equivalent of at least 16 hours per week at National Minimum Wage or Living Wage
- Earn less than £100,000 per year
- Apply through the Childcare Choices website and receive a valid eligibility code
- Eligibility must be reconfirmed every 3 months.
If you’re unsure what your family qualifies for, please just ask – we’re happy to guide you.
